How can the effectiveness of fibromyalgia therapies be evaluated?
What is more important for the patients and what is more important for the clinicians?
A structured questionnaire in a study with 100 fibromyalgia patients and 23 expert clinicians looked at these questions.
Both groups agreed on the importance of the following symptoms:
- Pain
- Fatigue,
- Sleep disturbance
- Health-related quality of life
- Depression
- Cognitive difficulty
It is interesting that patients ranked stiffness as an important symptom but that the clinicians did not.
These are 7 of the important symptoms that research should focus on in the quest for effective fibromyalgia treatments.
